In Memory of Ron DeNunzio

Ron

It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the news that Ron DeNunzio passed away. Ron started DESTINY ten years ago and created an amazing program that has touched many camper athletes and volunteers.

It is no coincidence that Ron, who consistently overcame many great challenges, was able to beat the odds and get DESTINY off the ground. In 2009 he put together a program, hosted 15 kids, and started an organization that has grown to host over 70 kids each year and continues to grow. Through Ron’s hard work, the number of scholarships that DESTINY is able to offer has grown every year and allowed kids with financial hardship fighting diabetes to attend camp. Ron was committed to making sure no child was unable to attend because of financial reasons.

The impact of his work has given those kids strategies, tools, and information that allows the to do anything they set their sights on in spite of managing diabetes.

Ron was a friend, a mentor, and a great soul.

His passion for helping kids and others with type 1 will live on in all of us.

We will miss you.

Bill King, John Boyer and all Med Staff and Volunteers
